Meet Chef Sam

We walked out to our garden - or the remains of it - last weekend to check on the tomatoes. Sam helped me pick tomatoes, banana peppers & jalapeno peppers. He loves to help!

We got back inside, and Sam immediately ran upstairs to the bonus room to get his chef's hat that came with the indoor/outdoor kitchen that Santa brought last Christmas. He came back downstairs, grabbed a cutting board and knife {regular dinner knife}, and started chopping a pepper from his bowl of "washed" tomatoes & peppers. He has helped me in the kitchen several times, but I had never seen anything like this. I had to grab my camera.

After he finished chopping everything, he asked Pete to cook his tomato & pepper "creation" so he could eat it with his dinner.

A lttle EVOO in the pan, then add the peppers to saute...

add the tomatoes...

finish with a little salt & pepper {to make it a little sweet & sour, you know?}

Do you think Sam has seen a little too much Next Food Network Star, Emeril, or Paula Deen? I kind of hope he keeps it up. It would be nice to have another "chef" in the house.

    I think if kids learn to cook then they will be much better eaters- that's great! Good job, mom and chef!!
