life planning 101

In this season of registering, we are registering for swimming lessons, kindergarten and fall soccer. As we were getting out of the van last night, I was talking to Pete about upcoming registrations. Need to gather paperwork for this, fill out forms for that...

To confirm that soccer was still on my "to do" list, I asked Sam if he still wanted to play soccer this fall. He said, "yeah, I want to play soccer in the fall, indoor soccer in the winter and baseball next spring. That's how I want to plan my life."

The worries of a 4 year old

Sam is and always has been very attached to his "softies", "blankies"... whatever you want to call them. When he was a baby, I bought 2 of them from Carter's that were blue & yellow on the front with a duck in the middle. The back was white silky fabric. These are what he calls his white softies. His collection has grown since then to include 2 brown softies, 2 other softies with characters (can't remember who right now), and a "school" softie - which is the one he used at day care. In addition to these small softies, he now uses a blue baby blanket as well as the "Sam" blanket that Grandma made for him. At any given time at home, if he has any, he usually has 4 or 5. Something we are trying to work on.

We try to have him keep his softies at home. When he does take them with us (they have to stay in the van), he can take 2 small ones.

We were out the other day (with softies in tow), and he picked them up and brushed them up against his face. He said, "I like to bring my softies with me so I don't have to worry about them."

tiny bubbles

Grace & I decided to stay home while Daddy & Sam went to practice. It was such a pleasant evening that we went out to the back porch to blow bubbles.

She blew bubbles...

and more bubbles...

and then ate bubbles...

A "Fun" Day

Sam, Grace & I spent the morning at Fun Day at MMO. The weather turned out to be perfect for the day. Sam had a blast bouncing in the gumball machine bounce, the train bounce, & the obstacle course. Grace tried to go through the train with Sam, but she got scared about halfway through. I looked really cute climbing through it trying to retrieve her.

Other activities: duck pond, tattoos, balloons, bubbles & chalk.

Pete was able to join us for lunch. They served pizza, bbq sandwiches & hot dogs. And Grandma & Papa dropped by for a few minutes.

Other than the trauma of the train and Sam's skinned up knees, a good time was had by all.
